Prenatal Care Visits During the Second Trimester of Pregnancy

During each prenatal care visit this trimester, your health care provider will want to check the following:
  • Your weight, blood pressure, and urine
  • The height of your uterus
  • Fetal heartbeat and activity
  • Any signs of swelling in your legs, arms, or face

By this time, average weight gain is between three and six pounds, and you will begin to gain about a pound a week. Continue to see your health care provider as scheduled to make sure that you and your baby are healthy. Each visit is an opportunity to ask questions and discuss any concerns that you have.
