Consumers United for Evidence-based Healthcare (CUE): CUE is a pioneering effort to improve consumers' ability to engage in and demand high quality health care. Childbirth Connection and other member organizations work in partnership with the US Cochrane Center and other scientists to strengthen the voice of consumers and provide leadership in health care research.

The US Cochrane Center: is a partner of CUE, with a primary mission of making systematic reviews of the effects of health care widely available and promoting the Cochrane Collaboration, its objectives and The Cochrane Library in the United States.


The Cochrane Collaboration: is an international not for profit and independent organization, dedicated to making up-to-date, accurate information about the effects of health care interventions readily available worldwide.


The Cochrane Library: contains high quality, independent evidence to inform health care decision-making. The search function, and abstracts and "plain language summaries" to all Cochrane systematic reviews, are freely available to all.


Cochrane Summaries: search for abstracts and plain language summaries of Cochrane reviews, along with links to full reviews and other resources.


Cochrane Consumer Network: coordinates the involvement of consumers within the Cochrane Collaboration, and works to ensure that the perspective and needs of consumers are incorporated into Cochrane systematic reviews and into the operation of the Cochrane Collaboration.


Consumer Involvement in Guideline Development: Why and How to Participate: this video, written and recorded for CUE by Richard Rosenfeld, MD, MPH, explains the importance of involving consumers in meaningful ways throughout the development of clinical practice guidelines and summarizes the process of guideline development. Dr. Rosenfeld is an experienced guideline developer and Chair of the Guidelines International Network’s North American Community.

Understanding Evidence-based Healthcare: A Foundation for Action: this web course was created by the US Cochrane Center as part of a project undertaken by Consumers United for Evidence-based Healthcare (CUE), and is designed to help consumer advocates understand basic evidence-based health care concepts and skills.

Making sense of research and evidence: An interactive online course: developed by the Cochrane Dementia and Cognitive Improvement Group, these tools are available for all health care consumers, to help improve familiarity with the Cochrane Collaboration, systematic reviews, and opportunities for consumer involvement.
